Patience has never truly been a virtue that I’ve ever truly held.

This pregnancy (which is still ongoing at the time of posting) has taught me that time is both yet too fast, and yet, so very slow. My goal of slow living is really becoming true, and being simultaneously tested.

I haven’t posted much since I’ve been back in the US. Between a major headache with the City of Memphis, going to weekly appointments, and trying to make this interim housing feel like home, it’s been a lot.

Rounding out time to my due date has proven to be a marathon and roads I’ve taken haven’t really led me anywhere. And yet, I have to have trust.

I need to trust this baby, myself, and the process.

It’s mostly that whatever the statistics say, this baby chooses the opposite path and throws up road block after road block. She’s really either really stubborn, or goes to the beat of her own drum. This is the battle I suppose between being a Capricorn or Aquarius, a Tiger or a Rabbit.

(I’ve had a lot a time to research these things.) Being a Virgo parent will be interesting according to all the websites too.

Regardless, we’ve taken time to put together as much as we can before we expect her to choose her birthday, or the date our doctor has chosen for her. Either way, if we can make it to Sunday, she’ll be an Aquarius.

Interim housing for us has been interesting. It’s 663 sq/ft apartment over a theater. It gets loud on weekends, although we’re 6 floors above it (interesting will be the description of being sleep deprived with a newborn.) It’s bulky furniture, a tiny tiny tiny kitchen, and not enough spreading out room for our resident foes, Caspian and Stitch.

My favorite room is the bedroom. Not because of the furniture, or terribly uncomfortable bed, but the personal spin that we’ve put on it in anticipation of this baby. It’s the room darkening curtains we had to hang because the car dealership bright lights at night that creep into the room, the swapped out linens for ones that are more comfortable and cozy to us, it’s the bassinet that was literally an international hassle to get, it’s the back and forth I consistently do at night with the best investment of a pregnancy pillow one can make. It’s the tiny baby things just waiting for the tiny baby.

And so, we continually wait.

It’s the hospital bag (Lo&Sons) waiting patiently in the corner.

A diaper station, 3 in 1 bassinet (Vaggaro) that collapses to the size of a rolled yoga mat, my beloved pregnancy pillow (BBHugMe)

A much loved natural heating pad (Ardent Goods), and the products that have sustained me during my pregnancy (Ritual, Primally Pure, Erbavia) Yes, Pepcid is life.

A tiny first library of bilingual books and a beloved (by me) sleep machine.

A diaper station with the coolest Casper Glow light, diapers, snacks, and other essentials.

A minimalist baby closet nestled in ours.

And finally, a bassinet waiting for its tiny human.

For those worried about safe sleep (there’s a flat mattress under there and she won’t be using the sheepskin at night) 🙂

Until next time (potentially with our baby bird!!!),

Carrie
